FLOODING CATASTROPHE in BAMAKO

Inondations catastrophiques avaient suivi les pluies diluviennes du 05 août 2021.

August 5th 2021 was a bad day for Bamako, with sudden, violent rainfall causing floods in many districts. Here is the wall of Daudabougou school, by a drainage ditch on the street where Robin’s house stands. If they fall, they drown.

Many Richmonders have visited Macky Tall, Kalifa Touré and Ami Coulibaly in their house on a hill: compounds lower down across the square are flooded. Many houses built with banco (mud bricks) have fallen. Up to eighteen people are said to have lost their lives in the floods. Huge rains also affected Niger, and the North Malian town of Ménaka near the Niger frontier. Here are people in Bamako walking along their street in water chest-high.
